Full disclosure: I am friends with Anya and Laszlo, and I visited the home while I was with them. The house is super convenient for groups - large and small - that want privacy or may need space (3 master bedrooms make this possible), the other 2 bedrooms are smaller and share a bathroom. The living room area has very warm and homely feel to it, with a wood ceiling, really cozy fireplace and skylights that provide plenty of natural light and great sky gazing opportunities on clear nights. It is a great area to cozy up on the couch to watch a movie, play games with a friends or watch a movie. The living room opens up to a truly amazing kitchen. I love cooking even on vacation, and this place has it all - great utilities and SPACE. It was really fun to be able to chat with everyone over glass of vine while preparing a tasty dinner - this kitchen would be perfect for a cocktail party if you had a larger group! There is ample counter space for a chef and multiple assistants and the dishwasher that makes it easy to take care of dishes afterwards. Much of the house has very nice hardwood floors, making it comfortable and warm to walk around in the socks or slippers. I think that whether it is for city getaway, romantic weekend or larger group reunions this place has all the comforts you would want, and I definitely highly recommend it.
Overall the house was what we needed in terms of beds and bath. There were a couple of issues we did have. 1.) There was no washer or dryer. I can understand not having a washer for guests but a dyer would have been nice to dry our ski gear. 2.) There is no linen service, you have to bring your own sheets, towels, dish towels, bath mats and any other towels/linens you would need. For the price, we expected at least bath rugs/mats and dish towels. There is tile on each bathroom floor and stepping out while wet is dangerous. 3.) There was a strong urine odor in both downstairs bathrooms. Not sure what that was, maybe the septic, but it was concerning. 4.) You pay, in the cost of the stay, for the cleaning of the home. The floors were so dirty that everyone's sock and feet were black!! We had to wear shoes the whole time. 5.) The description stated that there were 3 TVs in the home. There was one working TV in the main room, no cable. The other TV upstairs did not work and there was not a third. They were not able to accommodate a late checkout (which was advertised as "no problem") at the last minute when it was known by owner that we were requesting one plenty of time in advance. These are very easy things to fix and would make the stay much nicer. Some of the things we did love was the style of the home, very cabin like. The kitchen was a great size that can accommodate a lot of people. There were plenty of bathrooms and it was very close to big boulder and restaurants.
Dear Ingrid- I apologize that your stay was ok. We strive for everyone to enjoy their stay. I wished that you and that every guest would contact me right away with any issues you may be having, so that you stay isn't as affected. It is very helpful to have this type of feedback right away, as opposed to hearing about it later in a review. I would like to address each of your points one by one: 1. Correct, we do not have a washer and dryer, as stated in our description. We are purchasing and installing them in the spring. Thank you for this feedback. 2. Linens and towels are provided as part of an additional service, as stated in our description. They must be ordered separately. This is typical for the Poconos. Thank you for your feedback on bath rugs, I will order some right away. We did have dish towels, not sure if you weren't able to locate them, but we will put them in a more prominent spot. 3. This is the first time I hear about the smell in the bathroom. We checked the house today, and after the usual cleaning there was no smell. 4. Our floors are vacuumed and washed after each guest. We have always walked in socks (and we ask guests to take shoes off), so I cannot comment on this instance, but the floors are required to be cleaned before each guest. I apologize. 5. We do not state that we have 3 TVs. We have 1 in the living room, which features internet based services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and many movie/TV show apps, as well as apps for local live TV channels that are accessible through the modern smart TV interface. Regarding early check-in and late check-out- this is something we offer, when available, and there are no back to back guests. Official check-in is always at 3pm and check-out at 11am, if we are able to provide additional time, this is completely at our discretion and not guaranteed. Thank you for your feedback, we are continually striving to improve. Anya
It's a beautiful home! We really enjoyed our stay at the house. Only thing we did not like about the house is that it did not have a washer and dryer. Other than that, it was a beautiful stay. W e understand it a new house, eventually, the owner will get washer and dryer in there soon.
We took our kids up for a ski weekend as we do every year and stay in Lake Harmony. First stay at this house and it exceeded our expectations! Lots of space. Upgraded everything! The kitchen is huge which was perfect for our families who spend our time eating, drinking and talking! There is not a game room or hot tub as you will find in other rentals but we really did not need it. Close to lake and slopes. We saw lots of deer right in the backyard. Thank you Anya for letting us stay at your beautiful house. We will definitely be back next year.
House was awesome!!!!! We just finished our 3 day mini vacation and we were all very pleased. The house was Very clean, big and spacious enough rooms and bathrooms to accomidate 5 couples comphertably. Huge fully stocked kitchen (just bring your food.) Close and easy to get to both Jack Frost and Big Bolder ski areas. Plenty of parking space. Wouldn't change anything about this home. And the owners were great and easy to talk to. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you again for a wonderful weekend. House is perfect
We had a wonderful weekend away at Lake Harmony. The house itself was very spacious and accommodating. Large living room, huge kitchen and plenty of bedrooms. We comfortably fit 9 adults with room for more. All ski resorts were a short drive away. Will be looking to book again next year! Thank you!
I stayed here with seven of my friends and we had a great time. There are four nice sized bathrooms which cut showering time for 8 women to a minimum :) The large windows allow you to see the deer and foxes that meander by and the large kitchen allowed for all of us to sit around one table and enjoy each others company. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a place in Lake Harmony.
As wonderful as the gathering space is the house is in need of cleaning. There are still Christmas decorations hanging throughout the home. There is a dryer that does not work well but no washing machine. The home also does not have air conditioning and the bedrooms get very warm even with the windows open. We also had a problem with ants in the kitchen. The bedroom comforters were old and smelled and the outdoor furniture needed new cushions - they were way too small for the chairs and tattered. This was my third stay with homeaway and the first time I was disappointed.
We felt right at home. The rooms were lovely and the house supplies were surprisingly well stocked. The house is tucked into the woods and even when it rained, it was a beautiful experience to sit out on the porch under the awning. The homeowner Anna was kind and helpful, answering our questions right away. The house was within easy walking distance of the Split Rock beach. We're excited to maybe come back to get the winter experience, too!
We went to the Poconos for our annual siblings get-together. Clean and big rooms and bathrooms. We all loved the well-stocked kitchen that opened to the great room. Perfect get-away spot with the deer and turkey in the yard; not like the city at all! Peaceful, quiet, beautiful. Thank you Anya!
House was large - plenty of bedrooms for a large group. Very large kitchen and family room, neat fireplace - great for hanging out. Close to skiing and restaurants. Only suggestion - would turn on heat prior to arrival - took a while to heat home - was a bit chilly for a while (note it was very cold when we were there) we had a great time!
We are a group of 10 friends who had a fabulous getaway at the house. It was wonderful. The house is spacious -- HUGE kitchen with huge table -- and all the amenities are great. We were there for 2 days and never left the house (lousy weather) and it was very comfortable. Anya was super helpful and responsive. We will happily return!
Second year in a row we have rented this house in Lake Harmony and this is the second time we had a great stay. Even with 15 inches of snow we had a great time relaxing at the house and going to Jack Frost Mountain. Will definitely be looking to book again next year. Thank you for the hospitality!
What a great way to spend my in-laws 60th wedding anniversary. Anya's Pocono retreat was very spacious and accommodating for 14 people. The overall layout of the hose was perfect and the location was within walking distance to everything including the lake, restaurants and good old hiking trails. I would definitely stay here again for those reasons as well the timely replies from Anya in regards to all of my questions prior to our visit to the mountains:) Thank you!
Anya, the owner was very attentive and helpful. On arrival, we were surprised and very happy to see the electric handicap lift on the front deck. The lift was helpful for some of our family members that have difficulty with steps. We really enjoyed the large kitchen with its huge table and seating for all of our guests. The bed and bath rooms were neat and clean. The continuous hot water heater was especially appreciated when everyone wanted a shower. There was plenty of hot water for everyone! The deck was a very nice space for experiencing the fantastic weather of the Poconos. We also had lots of wildlife to view. Many friendly deer walked by the cabin and we saw one black bear. The setting was peaceful and quiet --perfect for a restful break in a unique environment. Everyone in our family had a great time and commented on how much they liked the cabin!
Thank you for the review! We have on-demand heating which pretty much guarantees continuous hot showers :) Re: handicap lift- it can certainly be used by guests in need, just let me know.
This house was perfect for us. Very large table in the kitchen was a central gathering point at all hours of the day; for games, coffee klatch and eating together. Having 3 master bedrooms with private bathrooms was good and takes the pressure off having to "take turns". Kitchen was well equipped. We were 4 families with 5 kids of various ages and the house was very cozy for that size group. The other key spot for us was the extra large picnic table on the front deck. The weather was great so we were able to hang outside alot. A very minor drawback for us is that there was no grassy yard for our toddler kids. The driveway is rocks. We were surprised at the very domestic deer that came calling every day. This was our first time gathering our family in the Pocono's and we have all said that we would return again. Since our family is all over the east coast - this was a central location for us all to meet and spend some wonderful time together. Suggest a day trip to Jim Thorp. We took the steam train ride - and the entire family (all ages) enjoyed the ride and our day in this unique town and it's only about 1/2 hour away. The H2o water park is really close to the house. Suggest going for the twilight rate in the late afternoons so you can save some money. Its a small indoor park. Our kids were done after 2 hours. We were concerned that there is no A/C - but it cooled off every evening we were there and didn't even need. There are ceiling fans in every bedroom. There are two portable A/C units for the upstairs bedrooms which I think they turned off at night. Suggest you bring your own beer - it was VERY pricy here. No big grocery stores are close so food was more expensive then at home. My last comment is that there is only Smart TV. I was surprised that there was no over the air stations. But as it turned out, we were having such a good time doing other things, that we didn't miss it and just spent our time talking and playing games at the kitchen table.
This house is perfect for a large family or group looking for a getaway. We were in the Poconos for a family wedding and there was enough room for the entire group to spread out and get comfy! With six bedrooms and four bathrooms, everyone was able to enjoy their own space. House was very clean and the kitchen was amazing. We loved our stay here.
My family and I stayed at your place for a long weekend from Sept 20-23, and it was a great house with a lot of room to gather with a large family. Anya was quick at responding to any questions or concerns I had, and I definitely plan to come back to her place in the future. The House was very clean and everything that I expected.
